My kiddlets have discovered a new place they love to visit - Half-Price Books. They have always enjoyed the bookstore, but this one is a better size for them. Also, with great prices, they almost always get to bring something home. I don't remember the occasion but each boy had $5 from Grammy and Papa. Of course it was burning a hole in their pocket. Unfortunately, they kept asking for things that were $10 and up or just junk. I finally persuaded them that putting their money together would be best. We found the perfect thing and it was even less than $10!
The first thing that got their attention was the werewolf on the front cover. My boys love werewolves and other supernatural creatures. Don't most kids? The other cool thing was a tube of figurines that was attached to the side. When I saw the tube o'creatures I was curious, so I picked it up and read about it. Not only was it a book and toys but it was a game too! Looking over the directions I could tell it was similar to battleship. The boys would have to place their monsters on a grid. Then, they hunt the monster by calling out coordinates. If they find a monster, they have to spin the wheel to see if they beat it. I knew Ayden could handle it and that Dillon, with my help, would enjoy it as well. We immediately played the game and have already had hours of fun with it. In addition to the game and toys, the book has captivating illustrations that the boys like to look at and discuss. I am hoping to get one of the other sets the next time we go as there were two more. With little boys, I realize that the board, spinner, and box may not have a long life; however, they'll still be able to enjoy the book and the toys for a long time. And I get to enjoy their conversations and a little time to myself while they are occupied!
